Trojans slaughter Hawks in home opener
“It’s a great day to play baseball,” Coach Lloyd announced at yesterday’s home opener for the 2018 Varsity baseball team. The Trojan Pack faced Gretna High School, winning 14-0, resulting in the slaughter rule.
Senior Will Davis led the Trojans as the starting pitcher for last night’s game, striking out ten Hawk players.
“Since it was the first game of the year, I was just trying to feel my mechanics and hit my spots, then let the defense work behind me. I think we all played great,” said Davis.
Even though the Hawks attempted to stop the Trojans from obtaining runs, Tunstall never let the Hawks score during all five innings.
Senior Cameron Rigney explained how they able to do so: “I honestly play with a great group of guys. We go out there and give it our absolute best. As a team, we never quit and we never give up.”
Two total home runs were hit during the game by junior Seth Bonar and senior Reese McQuaid.
“It was really exciting. This was my second home run ever,” said McQuaid.
The JV Baseball team also shut out the Hawks while away with a score of 15-0.
The Trojans are back in action on Tuesday, March 20, hosting the Bassett Bengals at 5 p.m.
