Planet Fitness works out for Tunstall students
Recently, a new gym by the name of Planet Fitness came to Danville. When the new gym opened, it immediately was a new and popular place for individuals of all ages to workout. The gym is open twenty-four hours and seven days a week, so it is convenient for every member who joins. Planet Fitness is well-known for its extremely low prices, the “Lunk Alarm”, and place of no judgment.
There are two types of memberships an individual can purchase. The first option is the White Card. This card gives a member the ability to workout whenever he or she pleases for only ten dollars a month. The second option is the Black Card. This card gives the same access to the gym as the White Card, but also includes tanning, the hydro-massage, total body enhancement, and the massage chair for only twenty dollars a month. Due to the low prices that Planet Fitness offers, gyms such as Perfect Body have lowered their prices as well.
Many students from Tunstall attend Planet Fitness. “I go to Planet Fitness to get a good workout after a long day. What I like most about the gym is the environment and its whole setup. Also, the trainers are very helpful,” said freshman Savannah Carter.
The gym is sectioned off into many different stations, which gives members a variety of places to workout. “I like how they have so many things to do,” said senior Jenna Thurman. The amount of equipment available to members makes the gym very spacious and less crowded.
Planet Fitness is a gym of no judgment. On their website they describe their gym as a “Judgment Free Zone.” Many gyms are intimidating to individuals, but Planet Fitness does not believe in what they call “gymtimidation.” The gym has the “Lunk Alarm” which is an alarm that goes off when members are slamming their weights down too hard or being too loud and drawing attention to themselves.
With the “Lunk Alarm” and their “Judgment Free Zone” philosophy, Planet Fitness gives members the opportunity to relax, get in shape, and have a good time without being subjected to the hard-core, look-at-me attitude that exists in too many gyms today.
