The varsity baseball team fell short in yesterday’s game against the Chatham Cavaliers, losing 3-4. The game, held at Jack Bryant Field, was very close in all innings, beginning with the sound of the first pitch hitting the catcher’s glove.

Tunstall found themselves tied with Chatham in almost every inning until the Cavaliers ended up with a lead of 2-4 near the end of the game, but the Trojans never gave up. With it being the bottom of the seventh inning, the Trojans managed to get one more run on the board, making the final score 3-4.

The starting pitcher, senior Will Davis, led the Trojans up until the bottom of the seventh inning, then senior Tyler Jarrett stepped up to the mound with already two outs.

Sophomore Grant Elliot ended the night with two doubles.

“It was tough having another good pitcher on the mound facing us, but I was going into the game with a positive approach to do the best I could for our team,” said Elliot.

The Trojan Pack is now 1-1 and will face the Martinsville Bulldogs on March 23, away at Martinsville.
