Reminiscing on the best throwback cartoons
Cartoons were a necessity when I was younger and even so today on Saturday mornings, when I get up way too early and can’t seem to fall back asleep. Cartoons bring this sense of comfort with them that makes me want to stay in bed all day and forget my present day worries.
Here are the top five cartoons that will make you reminisce on your childhood.
1. Rugrats
It seems like everyone has had some kind of opinion when it comes to this show. Some despise the cartoon and claim it’s stupid and overrated, while others love the show and could watch it for days. But, how could you hate watching all the characters’ shenanigans? The creators even made a spin-off of the show of when the characters grew up called Rugrats: All Grown Up.
2. The Proud Family
These guys were honestly family goals. There was always something going on that grabbed your attention from the first moment it was on T.V. The theme song was also sung by Destiny’s Child, which so happens to be the group Beyoncé was in before going solo.
3. Scooby Doo, Where Are You?
Everyone wanted a dog like Scooby Doo when they were younger. With Scooby and the gang, no villain could ever get away. Now that I’m older, I think the show had a deeper meaning to it than just solving clues and fighting bad guys. To me, it shows that not everyone is as they may seem, but ultimately good will always win.
4. The Powerpuff Girls
It’s really sad that I can’t find this cartoon on my TV anymore no matter how hard I look. I loved it and it seems like it just magically disappeared one day. I loved The Powerpuff Girls so much I even drew Buttercup (the green one) for an art project in eighth grade.
5. Kim Possible
I can still hear the ringtone from every time Kim Possible came on. Kim and Ron (along with Rufus the Mole Rat) were always very entertaining to watch. Without a doubt, almost every girl wanted to be Kim Possible and be able to fight off all the bad guys.
Whether cartoons were your favorite thing to watch or just something to fill up a quiet room, they were part of childhood and will continue to bring happiness for years to come, no matter how old we get.
