Playing “Truth or Dare” with a surprisingly evil twist

On April 13, Truth or Dare was released in theaters. This movie was more than predictable. It is based on an well-known and usually innocent game, Truth or Dare. The movie starts out with a group of five teenagers who decide to go on a senior year trip to Mexico.

The dream vacation soons turns into a nightmare. Upon their arrival in Mexico, they decide to go out for drinks. They are soon taken hostage by a vengeful psychopath and forced to play a party game with life or death situations.

Once they start playing the game, the psychopath who took them to an abandoned cave gets his turn. He choses ‘truth’ and is asked “What are your true intentions with us?” He then tells them that the game they are playing will not only follow them home, but also will result in getting killed by evil spirits if they refuse to answer truth or dare when asked.

The entire film leads viewers to believe the characters will make the choice to sacrifice themselves. In what seems like a final act of selflessness, the movie’s heroine, Olivia, creates a YouTube video to warn present day humanity. The video is called “Truth or Dare Curse” and it explains what occurred in the movie, the regulations of the game, and so forth. It warns viewers to not fall into the curse she did, until she unexpectantly asks “Truth or Dare?”

In doing that, Olivia has cursed all of the viewers and sucked them into the identical deadly game she’s been playing the whole film. She’s doomed the millions of human beings looking at the video, and the more people that watch, the more Olivia’s turn is pushed further and similarly returned.

Basically, Truth or Dare ends with the two heroines unleashing a curse on all humanity which can’t be stopped. It is like an act of mass genocide, which they knowingly commit, on the way to save themselves.

I’m not exactly sure if the movie was intended to be scary, however, it never was. Along with the trailer of the movie being better than the movie itself, the only good part was the ending. The ending of this movie was so out of place it was surprisingly hilarious.

In conclusion, this movie was mediocre. There were numerous ways it could have been improved; however, I would highly recommend people to go watch this movie so they can form their own opinions.
