Comets defeat varsity Trojans
The boys varsity soccer team lost a tough match to the Halifax County Comets on May 1, with a score of 2-4. This makes the Trojans’ record 3-6.
The first half started slow, but took a positive turn when senior Adam Scearcy scored the first point for the Trojans, followed by the Comets scoring a point. Towards the end of the first half, junior Coleman Fields scored another point, only for the opposition to add another point to their score, as well. The entire first half, both teams were even, each trading possession of the ball. The match could have gone in either team’s favor. The first half ended in a tie with a score of 2-2.
The match, however, quickly turned in favor of Halifax when the second half opened with two points scored for the Comets. The Trojans fought hard from then on, but were unable to score another point, thus resulting in a loss for the home team.
“We lost some practice days due to the rain last week,” said coach Eric Hash, “but we have a couple days before our next game, so we will cover lost ground then.”
The Trojans will play at home against Chatham on Monday, May 7th, at 7:00 p.m.
