“The main reason I started lifeguarding was to help out in my community and learn respect for the people I work with and those around me. Working and earning money has definitely helped me learn to budget myself and how rewarding it is to earn my own money. When I was younger, I practically lived at the old YMCA because my mom wanted to make sure I could swim so she wouldn’t have to worry about me drowning. I’ve been swimming all my life so I feel like I pretty much just took my old talents (being able to swim) and turned them into a completely new one (saving lives thanks to swimming).”
