THS volleyball owns the Piedmont
The THS volleyball team advanced to the regional tournament after defeating Magna Vista in three straight sets on October 30. With this victory, the Lady Trojans improved their record to 21-5 and 2-0 in tournament play. The girls will try to keep their winning ways rolling through the regional tournament.
On Wednesday night the girls hosted the Magna Vista Warriors in the district championship game. THS came into this game with a record of 20-5 after defeating Patrick County in the semifinals. The girls dominated from start to finish deflating the Warriors hopes of a championship with a straight set victory.
Leaders for the Lady Trojans were Cathryn Estes with 11 kills and 14 points; Brooklyn Owen with eight kills and 10 points; Kaylee Scarce with seven kills; Sarah-Beth Marlowe and Cassidy Scarce had four kills each; Kinsley Stevens had 30 assists. Brooklyn, Sarah, and Cassidy all had blocks in this match.
Junior Kaylee Scarce believes the girls are close to their goal, “Last night’s win was a huge confidence boost towards us achieving our ultimate goal of a state championship.”
The girls are back in action on Tuesday, November 5, at THS for the opening round of the regional tournament. The Lady Trojans will take on William Byrd in hopes of advancing one step closer to their goal of states. Game time will be at 6 p.m.
