Ms. Lisa McAlister

Ms. Lisa McAlister is another one of the many new additions to the English department this year. She is currently teaching English 10 and also taught Creative Writing last semester. McAlister got her undergraduate degree in English from Belmont Abbey College and her master’s degree in English Literature from UNC Charlotte. She taught homeschool for 22 years and public education for 6 years. 

 McAlister’s favorite of being at THS so far has definitely been her students. “The students are phenomenal.”She really enjoys teaching high school students and getting them prepared for their futures. 

McAlister has noted the academic and social deficiencies that students have because of COVID“I think the hardest part has been navigating the deficiencies students have because of being at home for so long.” . 

 McAlister’s goal for her students is that they are able to critically think about their ideas and effectively communicate those ideas to others. 

One thing that Ms. McAlister is always doing in her free time is writing; she is even writing a novel. Other than that she also loves reading and just taking a ride in the country.
