On Friday, January 16, Tunstall High School’s DECA club competed in the district championship at Comfort Inn. Tunstall won five first place titles,  eight second place titles and seven third place titles.

Tyler Jarret, Brandi Beckelheimer, Victoria Smith, Landon Siggers, and Hunter Sollenberger all took home first place titles; winning second place titles were Cayla Fuqua, Brianna Farrar, Thomas Harris, Aiyana Layne, Dustin Meadows, Garret Van Allen, Matthew Compton, and Cristian Rutledge; students winning third place were Grey Capozzoli, Cody Dix, Nick Vest, Bridgette Carter, Tiffany Crews, Matthew Howell and Chandler Wilkins.

Sophomore Chandler Wilkins says, “It is really fun to compete and I have been doing it since the ninth grade. The best part of the competition is meeting new people.”

DECA is a nation wide organization designed to help students better prepare themselves for the outside world, and help them learn about “real world” scenarios that they may be faced with in the future. The organization is not only a club but also a competition and has three levels: Districts, States, and Nationals.
