Senior Carter Richardson plays for Tunstall’s varsity baseball team; he is the team’s center fielder. Richardson is a star player and a huge asset to the team. Richardson has been playing baseball since he was three years old and discovered his true love for the game when he was 13 years old.
Richardson has plans to attend Radford University to play D1 baseball after high school. “I’ve always wanted to go to a D1 school in Virginia, and Radford seemed like the best fit,” Richardson said.
Having a good support system can increase your drive to want to better yourself. Knowing you have someone always in your corner can lead to a better performance. “My mom and dad are definitely my biggest supporters,” Richardson said. A good coach can also help guide you in the right direction. “I also have to give credit to my travel ball coach Chad Anderson,” Richardson said.
“I am going to have a big schedule, but I am just [going to] try to focus on the important things first,” Richardson explained. Managing time is a big part of being a student athlete. Individuals have to learn to adjust to having practice everyday but also having to maintain superb grades.
Going to college can be scary at first; moving away from family and friends is never easy. It takes a lot of adjusting, but in the end it is worth it. “I think I will enjoy playing college ball even though it is a big commitment, I have been working for this my whole life,” Richardson said.
Richardson will be graduating high school in May of 2024 and attending Radford in the fall. Tunstall is excited to see yet another Trojan further their academic and athletic career.
