Every weekend students at THS make the choice to go out and be active or stay at home and relax. Even if we do not realize it, we make this choice more often than we think. Students tend to have either an exciting weekend or a lazy weekend. Let’s see what they choose to do!
The majority of students choose to have a lazy or boring weekend. “I choose to stay in on the weekends because it is more comforting and less tiring than going out,” senior Savannah Bates said. Most students that agree with Bates to stay in due to how exhausting school can be. This way they can be well rested before and after a long week of school. Students also said that they choose to be productive on their weekends at home. Getting things done like cleaning their room, washing clothes, and catching up on homework. Personally, when I stay at home, I like to watch some of my favorite shows and watch new shows that were recommended to me.
I spoke with a few students that said they like to stay in on some weekends and go out on others. “I like to stay at home some weekends, but on others I like to go out with friends and my boyfriend,” senior Kieran Gilbert said. I agree with Gilbert, I like to have a balanced schedule where I do not feel overwhelmed or bored. Having a mix of both allows me to be well rested and still be able to go and have fun.
Some students that choose a mix of both also like to go with the flow. Instead of planning to do one or the other, they just do as they feel. “I never know which one I may want to do, so there’s no use in planning around it,” senior Tristan Bagbey said. Going with the flow allows these students to do as they please. Doing things this way means there are no plans to worry about or to work around.
A large portion of THS students said they would rather go out on their weekends. Instead of staying in, they like to go do things like shopping, hanging out with friends, and going to restaurants. Some specific places in Danville may include: Starbucks, Target, Outback Steakhouse, Chick-Fil-A, Sheetz, Marshalls, Dairy Queen, the Danville Mall, or River District Golf & Social.“I love going to church with my friends on Sundays and then going to lunch after,” senior Grace Wann said. A busy and active weekend may be the choice for some when they want to have a fun weekend.
Whether students decide to have a laid back weekend or an occupied weekend, we like to do what makes us happy. Each weekend we do multiple activities, even if that consist of laying in bed and watching TV or going to the fair. We make this choice every single day to decide what we do on our weekends.
