College sports hold a place in everyone’s heart. Whether students are supporting their future college or the college they are hoping to attend, they can agree that college sports are a lot of fun. THS students are big on college sports, and they certainly bring the energy when game-days arrive!
Sophomore Madeleine Jones is a huge Virginia Tech supporter. She’s been a Hokies fan her whole life, and her family is some of their biggest fans. She watches the VT Hokies football team the most. “My favorite player is number 0,” Jones said, “my friend was wearing a jersey with his number on it, and he scored a touchdown.” Jones has been to three football games in person, and plans on going to two more this season. She plans on applying to go to Virginia Tech, and she hopes to get in. “The atmosphere is so fun,” Jones elaborates. Jones does not plan on playing sports in college, but if she did she would run cross country or track.
Junior Matthew Nosse is the biggest Tennessee fan there is. He’s been a supporter for a while, but he started to really gain his spirit when he found out his girlfriend was a supporter, as well. He and his girlfriend recently attended a Tennessee football game. “Joe Milton is my favorite player,” Nosse commented, “he’s the quarterback on the football team.” Nosse is hoping to go to the
University of Tennessee. “[Tennessee] is such a great school, they have a great community, and they have really awesome sports teams,” Nosse said. He isn’t sure if he’d pursue any sport in college, but cross country and track are at the top of his list.
Virginia Tech has some die-hard fans, and sophomore Ian Yeatts is one of them. He grew up being a Hokie because most of his family supports them. Yeatts watches basketball the most, and he loves to learn from the players on the court. His favorite player is number zero, Hunter Cattoor. Yeatts has been to one basketball game, and he had an awesome experience. “Watching them on the
court was so inspiring,” Yeatts said, “their gameplay is very competitive.” Yeatts plans on attending Virginia Tech. Most of his family has gone to VT, and they have spoken very highly of it to him. He dreams of playing college basketball, and even considers it a goal of his.
College sports are dearly loved here at THS. Students watch these athletes perform and build the courage to be just like them. College sports have inspired people nation-wide, and they continue to give confidence to our very own.
