No single morning routine is the exact same. Some love to grab Starbucks on the way to school while others make an at-home coffee for the road. Some choose to wake up early and take their time whereas others like to wake up and roll. Many of the teachers and students at THS have very elaborate and precise things they must have done before they take off for the day.
English teacher Ms. Bowker wakes up every morning bright and early at 6:10 to prepare herself for a day with her beloved students. Her favorite part of her mornings is watching Tik Tok while she is doing hair, makeup, and eating breakfast. Her skincare routine is short and sweet in the morning because she uses a makeup wipe as a morning refresh. When Bowker arrives at school, she often has her go-to Starbucks drink, a strawberry acaí refresher with lemonade, waiting for her. “My go-to breakfast is usually just toast and coffee, ” Bowker said.
Junior Parker Sinclair loves to wake herself up by washing her face first thing every morning. She loves turning on her favorite music by Zach Bryan while getting ready for school. Sinclair’s morning skincare consists of a wash, toner, eye cream, and lotion. It takes her about ten minutes to complete each phase of her routine in the morning. “I love to make myself a good breakfast because I feel like that is the best way to start out your day,” Sinclair said. Her most common breakfast would be toast with strawberry jelly for mornings that she needs something quick and easy.
Sophomore Madeleine Jones always comes to school put together and ready to take on each day. She loves to do different hairstyles for each day of the week. Jones takes much pride in her looks and loves the fun of choosing outfits and trying new looks in the morning. She often listens to artists such as Morgan Wallen and Taylor Swift while she is getting ready. Jones loves to keep her get-ready routine the exact same each morning, starting with brushing her teeth and ending with walking out of the house, breakfast in hand. “Sometimes I have toast for breakfast, but this week it is Toaster Strudels,” Jones said.
English teacher Mrs.Gunn likes to set multiple alarm clocks so she knows she will wake up at her desired time of 6 o’clock. Mrs. Gunn likes to take time to care for her animals, do her makeup, fix her hair, and hop in her Jeep to come to school. “My favorite part of my routine is the drive to school because it’s very relaxing,” Gunn said. On her way to school she often loves to stop to grab treats and goodies for her students. She likes to arrive an hour early to school so that she can get as much done as possible and have peace before her day really begins.
Junior Jaden Taylor enjoys doing her mascara more than any other step of her morning routine. She loves to wake up at 5:40 so that she can take as much time getting hair and makeup done as needed. Taylor loves listening to all kinds of music in the morning but always ends up listening to Tate McRae. “I like to get up and watch something in the morning and drink an Alani,” Taylor said. Often she takes a Special K bar with her as a small breakfast to start off the day. The last thing Taylor does is hop in her car and pick up a friend on her way to school.
Morning routines differ from person to person and often say a lot about them. Some love to get an early start to their day whereas others like to sleep for as long as they possibly can. Students and teachers at THS enjoy different aspects of their personal get ready processes such as getting Starbucks or picking out their outfits. In the end, everyone has their own personalized routine that works for them!
