Spirit week is the most exciting week of school for most people, but for others it is just like every other week. Spirit week is supposed to be filled with laughter, fun, and creativity.
Every year THS has a spirit week. Lots of students and teachers dress up during this week based on the theme for the day. There are some really interesting outfits throughout the halls and many pictures are taken.
Senior Evan Lewis definitely never disappoints for spirit week. “It is important to participate in spirit week because you can show school spirit and just have a good time,” Lewis said. Lewis tends to always keep a positive attitude and looks for many different ways to cheer people up. “My favorite part about spirit week is definitely getting to make people laugh,” Lewis said. Lewis always shows out. Lewis said, “I am most excited for soccer mom vs. barbeque dad day.” We shouldn’t be surprised if he showed up as a soccer mom. We are looking forward to seeing all of Lewis’s outfits.
Senior Annmarie Davis shared that she plans on participating in spirit week and has a lot of outfit surprises planned. “Spirit week is important. You want to show school spirit and be involved,” Davis said. Some individuals believe that some of their outfits would be embarrassing. “None of my outfits are going to embarrass me; you only live once,” Davis explained.
However, some students do not get as excited about spirit week. Spirit week doesn’t seem important to everyone, and individuals may not want to take the time to plan outfits for the week. Some people also just don’t see a reason to dress up.
Senior Wesley Nelson shared his input on why he isn’t participating. Nelson is a down to earth person who kind of just goes with the flow. “I don’t even know the days to be honest,” Nelson explained. Nelson doesn’t think spirit week is the most important thing, however he shared that extra credit could convince him to participate.
Junior Derrick Jackson doesn’t see a reason to dress up for spirit week. “I just don’t want to go buy things that I will only use for a week,” Jackson said. Like Nelson, Jackson states that if he was given some extra credit, he would dress up. “If I could get extra credit in Trig, I would definitely dress up,” Jackson said.
Spirit week is still exciting whether you dress up or not. We all get to attend a pep rally at the end of the week and play a variety of different games. We are excited to see different creative outfits for the week!
