The snow finally arrives
Students were very excited to wake up Monday morning to hear that there would be no school due to impending inclement weather. The first snow of the school year was on their horizon, and though some refused to get their hopes up, mother nature did not disappoint despite being so late in the season.
Most saw flurries every now and then throughout the day, but around four o’clock almost everyone saw it really begin to start sticking to the ground. Over night it accumulated, and by Tuesday morning there was an average of about three to five inches of snow throughout the county.
There is a small possibility of snowfall on Wednesday, and with many of the back roads not cleared, there is chance of no school on Wednesday. Also, with the extremely low temperatures for Thursday, there might be an absence then as well, much to the administrations dismay.
“The snow brings both good and bad to our area. It certainly is beautiful and fun to play in, but it also brings the chance of accident and death. Due to the lack of snow that our region gets, people are not experienced driving in it. Hence, causing a lot of avoidable accidents. It is nice to have a few days off this time of year to recharge the batteries, but we know that generally we have to make them up.” Driver’s Education teacher, Caine DeVivi said.
Despite the danger of the roads and the inevitable make-up days, the snow was a pleasant surprise and a very nice break from the school days for everyone.
