When scrolling through the newly added section on Netflix, you will be able to find one of the most recent Netflix original movies: Love at First Sight.
Love at First Sight is a romance drama based on an adaptation of the book The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith.
The main characters Oliver Jones and Hadley Sullivan are both headed to London but for very different reasons. Hadley misses her flight by just four minutes, but how much can that really change? After she gets a ticket to the next flight to London, she realizes she needs to charge her phone. When she goes to charge it the only charging station open is not working. Then, a young man, Oliver, offers her his charger. This leads to Hadley and Oliver getting to know each other and sharing the reasons why each of them are headed to London.
Then Hadley and Oliver board the plane. Hadley heads toward her seat and Oliver does the same. However, when Oliver reaches his seat his safety buckle is found to be broken, which leads him to being moved to the empty seat next to Hadley. As the flight begins, they talk about the wedding Hadley is going to attend in London. Coincidentally, Oliver says he also is attending a wedding. During the flight they begin to learn more about each other and what they enjoy.
When the plane lands they must go separate ways because Oliver is from London and Hadley is not, which means she has to go through the passport line. Oliver waits and waits for Hadley to get through the line, but when Oliver’s brother arrives he must leave. Finally, Hadley makes it through customs and then she heads off to the wedding. After the wedding, all Hadley could think about was Oliver. That is when she overhears two guests talking about a family and how the mother has terminal cancer that has come back, so the guests are going to attend the memorial. Much to Hadley’s surprise, this sounds exactly like Oliver’s family story. After this realization, Hadley begins to feel upset about leaving him alone to go to his mother’s’ memorial.
When she makes it to Oliver’s mothers memorial she finds out that it’s a living memorial. So she and Oliver begin to talk about what he is going through and how he feels about it when he begins to get really frustrated with Hadley. This leads Hadley to head back to her dad’s wedding but forgetting her backpack. Oliver finds the invitation to her dad’s wedding in her backpack which forces him to go to the wedding and apologize. He then takes the risk of telling her that all he thought about all day was her. At the end, Hadley and Oliver both believe that they had fallin in love at first sight which led them to get their happy ending.
Personally, I really enjoyed this movie because it shows that love at first sight is possible. It is also very uplifting and shows not everything is perfect but love can come pretty close. Even in bad times if you are lucky enough to have someone to help you through it, everything will be fine. It doesn’t only show love at first sight. It shows how opposites attract. So if you ever need a movie to help you believe in love, this is the right choice.
