At THS, there are many different classes that students have to take in order to graduate. The core subjects are history, science, math, and English. Most students have a favorite subject. For most students, history is the subject they lean toward.
Out of five students who were asked, three of them enjoy history the most. “History is my favorite subject because I enjoy learning about things that happened in the past,” senior Tiquaysia Belcher said. “History is my favorite subject because I find it a lot easier than other subjects,” senior Skyy Logan said. “I thoroughly enjoy history because I’ve always been interested in learning about the wars that have happened in the past,” junior Eli Farmer said.
Two out of five students enjoy math class the most out of any other subject. “I really enjoy math because numbers are easier to work with than words. Mrs. White is the reason why my love for math is so strong because she is more in depth with explaining how to do problems, and she really cares for how well I succeed in her class,” senior Casey Collie said. “I love math because it pushes me out of my comfort zone,” junior Chloe Simmons states.
My favorite subject is science. After high school, I plan on becoming a labor and delivery nurse. This means that throughout college and the rest of my life, I will have to have a wide variety of knowledge in the biology field.
Even though history is the most popular subject, it is my least favorite. I have never really been interested in learning what has happened in history or who the people are that did important things. History is a very controversial topic because some people say, “What is the point in learning about things that happened centuries ago?” The other perspective is, “It is very important to learn about the past so everyone knows what mistakes to not make in the future.”
