People have been buzzing about all of the different mascaras in the beauty world right now. There is talk about the lengths and volumes of all of the different mascara brands. Brands are selling out in stores because of the popularity that they get through social media, advertisements, and gossip about which one has the most benefits.

Sophomore Sarah Merricks comes to school every day rocking her favorite mascara, Telescopic by Maybelline. Merricks saw this viral mascara on TikTok and had to try it for herself. “My mascara is definitely worth the hype because it gives me good lashes for a long day at school and cross country,” Merricks said.

She mostly purchases her mascara from Target, but it is also sold at other drug stores. Merricks usually does about three to four coats to get her lashes as long and voluminous as she likes them to be. She loves to do her mascara because she feels as if it makes her look more awake and makes her feel very pretty.

English teacher Mrs. Gunn loves to do her mascara every morning as a part of her makeup routine. She just started using the Maybelline Volume Express mascara that a friend had recommended to her, and she is pleased to say that it has impressed her. “I like the mascara because it adds dark color to my lightly colored lashes,” Gunn said. She would love to try the Maybelline Just the Falsies mascara even though it is slightly pricier than her current choice. Gunn wears mascara as the final touches to her makeup routine to give her eyes an extra lift.

Freshman Jaylen Hipkins has been using The Falsies Push Up and Angel by Maybelline, and she loves it. Hipkins does think that this mascara is in the middle of the price range and maybe a little pricier than some, but it is worth the extra cost because of the effect it gives to her lashes. “I love the quality of this mascara because it comes in a very cute tube,” Hipkins said. The reason Hipkins adds mascara to her makeup look each day is because of the “pop” it gives to her eyes, making them appear bigger and fuller.

Senior Giada Pugliese heard about her mascara from a friend and now uses it on a daily basis. Pugliese’s mascara The E.L.F Big Mood mascara is a very affordable and long-lasting mascara. She enjoys this mascara because it separates and lengthens her lashes. Pugliese would definitely recommend this mascara to others because it makes a big difference in her lashes compared to other mascaras she has tried before. “I would love to try the tubing mascaras that are blowing up on TikTok to see if they remove less of my lashes when I take it off,” Pugliese said. She typically wears mascara to make herself appear more awake and enjoys the effect that mascara has on her eyes.

Sophomore Ainsley Henderson uses the Lash Princess Sculpted Volume as a base and Bad Gal Bang as her second coat. “I heard about the Lash Princess mascara on TikTok and my friend had it, so I decided to try it,” Henderson said. She does feel as if the Lash Princess is worth the hype and is very affordable. Her mascaras are very good quality, and they last her through a long day with no flaking or smudging. Henderson does about two coats of the Lash Princess mascara and about one coat of the Bad Gal Bang mascara. Henderson loves to wear mascara because her natural lashes are very long and she loves to make that stand out with her favorite mascara recipe. 

Personally, I love to use the Sky High mascara by Maybelline because of the length it gives to my lashes. This mascara is sold at most drug stores, but I normally go to Target to find this mascara. I had seen my mascara on social media platforms and decided to try it for myself and have been loving it ever since. I feel as if this mascara is popular because it is very affordable but still has very good quality. One mascara that I would love to get my hands on is the Thrive mascara because I have heard great things about it. 

Mascara is oftentimes a key part of a person’s makeup routine, which is what makes it so important to find the perfect one. Some people look for length in a mascara whereas others look at the volume it gives to their lashes. Mascara is a way for many people to feel more confident. They feel as if it leaves them looking fresh and ready every day!
