Fall can be a very cozy season for some. For many others, it can be more of a fun and eventful time of the year. This fun can either be happy-fun or scary-fun. Haunted houses are a staple of the fall/Halloween season. They are a completely harmless way of getting scared out of your wits. It’s a wonderful hang-out opportunity for you and a group of friends, or you could even go by yourself if you’re into that kind of thing. In the Danville/Pittsylvania County area there are quite a few of these attractions. However, some of the best you’ll find elsewhere. In honor of Halloween swiftly approaching, here is a list of some of the best haunted attractions (in no particular order).
Woods of Terror: This attraction is truly not for the weak. It’s located in Greensboro, and while it is a little more expensive than others, you get your money’s worth. If you’ve been to Woods of Terror then I don’t even have to explain why this is one of the best haunted houses to go to if you’re willing to make the drive.
Scaremare: Scaremare is located in Lynchburg at the Liberty University campus. It’s very popular and attracts people from all over the state. The entire experience lasts about 40 minutes as guests are led through woods, trails, and then a house.
Blairs Volunteer FD Haunted House: The Blairs haunted house is without a doubt one of the most popular haunted houses in Pittsylvania county. It’s been around for over 35 years and has become somewhat of a tradition for many in the area. Guests are led through a house and are even given a hayride at the end of the experience.
Many people have many different traditions for the Halloween season. For decades people have enjoyed haunted houses. They have become a staple for many during this time of year.
