The biggest gas station in America is Buc-ee’s. You may have heard of it because it is so popular for many reasons. Buc-ees has so many options for snacks and food on road trips including name brand products and Buc-ee’s products. Although there are only 58 of them in the U.S. and all of them are in the south, it is still one of the most well- known gas stations.
Sophomore Lydia Davis has been to Buc-ees once when she was coming back from the beach. She said while she was there she got chocolate chip cookies, a key lime pie cup, and a lemonade from their huge drink section. She also said her family shared all that they had got so she was able to try a variety of what Buc-ees sells. She tried the honey glazed pecans and nuts, which were her favorite because they were warm and she could see the workers making them. Davis also expressed how busy it is. “When you walk in during the day time you will not be able to move. It is so busy; there are lots and lots of people,” Davis said.
Buc-ees is also well- known for the experience while you are there. The environment is chaotic but really fun. Their super popular brisket is one of the elements that adds to the experience because the station is right in the middle of Buc-ees. Everytime the brisket is cooked and ready to be chopped up all the workers yell, “brisket on the board” really loud, getting everyone’s attention.
Junior Matthew Nosse has been to Buc-ee’s once while traveling to Pigeon Forge, TN. He stopped by the Buc-ee’s in Gatlinburg, TN, and he really loved it. Noose loved it so much that he bought both a Buc-ee’s hat and t-shirt. Nosse described Buc-ee’s as the place that has everything. “It’s like Walmart but Texified,” Nosse said.
While Buc-ee’s is huge and many would think it would be messy like other gas stations, it’s not. Buc-ee’s has a reputation for its cleanliness and rightfully so. While walking around the store you will see many workers making sure Buc-ee’s maintains its organization and stays clean. The bathrooms are no different while being huge and almost constantly having a line they are still always clean and sanitary.
Another popular thing at Buc-ee’s is their merch. They have a section filled with clothes that have their beaver mascot on them. They have shirts, shorts, pajamas, and even swimsuits. While in their clothing section you can also find many stuffed beavers. The beaver mascot also walks around the store so you can take pictures with the Buc-ee’s beaver.
Sophomore Lauren Gauldin has been to the Buc-ee’s in Auburn, Alabama, several times when visiting her sister in college. While at Buc-ee’s, Gauldin got slushies and different types of candy. She mentioned that she really enjoyed the slushie, so she gets one every time. Gauldin’s favorite part of Buc-ee’s is the experience. “The experience is my favorite part because everyone hypes it up and when you get there you definitely aren’t let down,” Gauldin said. While at Buc-ee’s, Gauldin also purchased a Buc-ee’s t-shirt that is red and white tie-dye with the Buc-ee’s beaver playing baseball on the front.
The first Buc-ee’s location in Virginia is in the works. This Buc-ee’s will be located in New Kent County and will open in 2027. There is another new one set to open in 2025 in Mebane, NC. Be sure to visit one of these locations or another one of the 58 for an unforgettable road trip stop.
