I believe each person can remember at least one movie that stood out to them the most and remember watching the movie like it was yesterday. I feel like what makes our childhoods so nostalgic are the movies we watched as kids. Movies that have funny and relatable characters tend to stick with us when growing up. Here are three of my favorite movies from my childhood that still stick out to me.
Ice Age
Ice Age is about a mammoth, who believes he is the last of his kind, accompanied by a sloth migrating south and a saber tooth tiger who got lost while on a hunt for a baby boy. The mammoth found the mother and baby running from the tiger, so the tiger plays along and tries to trick the mammoth and sloth to lead it back towards his pack. Once he realizes his mistake he joins the mammoth and sloth and they have to find the baby’s parents and protect the baby at all cost. Ice Age stood out to me because of the funny cast of characters they show and how serious characters can also have a funny side.
Megamind
Megamind is about a smart, misunderstood, blue alien who is taught to do bad things to fight his rival, Metroman, in a battle of good and evil. Everything changes when Megamind finally beats Metroman and then has the whole city to himself. After his victory fades, he wonders if all this fighting was worth it. This movie stood out to me because of the amazing voice acting and how it can show some villains are not evil, just misunderstood.
Astroboy
Astroboy is about a boy named Toby who was killed in a science experiment gone wrong. His father makes a robotic replacement of his son while trying to cope with the grief. The robot Toby goes by the name Astro and tries to find a new family and find who he is. Astroboy stands out to me because it was one the first 3-D animation movies I saw and is one of the most underrated movies in history because very little people have seen or they have forgotten about it.
Everyone remembers their childhood differently. I feel like these movies played a big role in making my childhood memorable. These movies have stuck with me, so I can cherish them forever. I hope that everyone can appreciate how movies have given us something to remember for the rest of our lives.
