Bye week is a week in which football players and cheerleaders get a break from their weekly sporting events. Bye week is something that every football team will have during their regular season. It provides times for the coaches and players to rest and recover before their next game.
“Getting some time to rest and prepare for the next game is why I love bye week,” Eli Farmer says. Eli plans to spend his extra time off resting.
As an athlete, I know that time off is just as important as time training. Recovery is just as important physically as it is mentally.
Nearing the end of football season, I would say our band, cheerleaders, and football players deserve a break before their final game. Recovery is important for physical and mental health. Players are able to catch up on sleep and missing assignments without sacrificing time into their sport.
This year’s bye week happens to fall on Halloween weekend. This is very convenient for all who are involved in Friday night lights because they will be able to spend the weekend with family and friends. Quarterback Josh Neal says he plans to spend his time off with friends.
Bye week is beneficial for many reasons as it provides athletes with a well deserved break.
