The booster club for THS held a Halloween masquerade formal for the high school students. Last year, the booster club held a winter formal, but they ended up getting too many complaints about the frigid weather. A masquerade is where individuals wear a spooky mask that only covers up their eyes. This event was held at the Owen Farm Loft, which also had a photo booth upstairs. There were many cookies, chips, and drinks that were served at the formal.
I thought that the formal was pretty fun, and my favorite part was the photo booth. I went with a group of friends to Downtown Danville to take pictures. We had dinner at Outback followed by Dairy Queen ice-cream for a sweet treat. I enjoyed that the booster club had this event because I felt as if it kept some people from going to Halloween parties that end up leading to bad outcomes.
Talan Moss, a senior at THS, also attended the masquerade. “My favorite part about the masquerade ball was the photo booth because I thought all of the props we got to use made it fun,” Moss stated. He also enjoyed eating the cookies that were served.
Caroline Clay, a sophomore at THS, spent her sweet 16 birthday attending the masquerade. “My favorite part about attending the formal was spending time with all of my friends. Since it was my birthday, I had a birthday sash and tiara and everyone was wishing me a happy birthday,” Clay said. According to her, it was just like having a huge birthday party.
Parris Atkinson, a senior at THS, attended this event as well. “My favorite part about this event was being able to spend time with friends and dancing with them,” Atkinson said. She attended this event as a last-minute idea and she ended up enjoying her decision.
