As we begin to head into some of the most popular holiday seasons, sometimes we seem to get lost in ourselves and forget to give. THS takes part in different fundraising events for people who might not be as blessed as you and I. Some of these different events are: the canned food drive and Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.
Operation Christmas Child is a project by Samaritan’s Purse that sends shoeboxes full of toys and necessities to children all over the world who are not as fortunate as others. Although the shoeboxes are filled with toys and necessities, Samaritan’s Purse also has a second mission which is to spread the word of Jesus Christ around the world. In 1993 Samaritan’s Purse distributed 28,000 shoeboxes. In 2022, they collected 10.5 million shoeboxes globally.
If you are looking to participate in Operation Christmas Child, DECA will be collecting items for shoe boxes until Friday November 10.
SCA is participating in the holiday canned food drive which is supported by God’s Storehouse. God’s Storehouse works towards promoting nutrition and distributing food throughout Danville and Pittsylvania County to give back to those in need. The collection date began on November 2, and SCA will be collecting cans until November 15. If you would like to participate you may bring as many cans as you would like. There are boxes located at each homeroom class for the cans to be collected!
All people are welcome to participate in each of these events, so this Thanksgiving and Christmas don’t forget to give back to those in need.
