Sunday Dec 3, 2023 was the annual Danville Christmas Parade. The parade was organized by the Riverview Rotary and the theme for this year was a superhero’s Christmas. Many students and teachers at THS were a part of the parade or attended the parade.
The parade is a tradition for many at THS and this year was no exception. The streets were packed with so many people watching and enjoying this experience. The parade is a great way to start out the Christmas season! Many students from Tunstall walked for different organizations or businesses in Danville.
This year’s parade had many floats and spanned for almost two hours. Tunstall’s vanguard marching band participated in the parade playing “Joy to the World ”,” Jingle Bells,” and “Oh Christmas Tree.” Sophomore Kayla Hamlett, who is in the band, was in the parade. Hamlett said her favorite part of the parade was getting to play for everyone there. Other bands in Pittsylvania County also played in the parade.
Junior Reagan Vickers was in the parade for Tunstall’s Interact club. Vickers held a sign and was a part of one of the first numbers in the parade. She said her favorite part of the parade was getting to meet different people from different schools and areas. Vickers said she saw a lot of people from Tunstall watching the parade.
The parade was a great experience for those who were a part of it and attended. Many students and teachers plan to continue going to the parade each Christmas.
