As the year progresses, horror movies are a staple during the fall season, and Pet Sematary is a classic worth watching every fall. Pet Sematary is a Stephen King horror classic written in 1983. The first film was made in 1987 and following that, the newest adaptation came out in 2019. The film from 2019 grossed $113 million.
Pet Sematary is about a family that moves away to get a fresh start with acres of land for their family. Louis (the dad), Reachel (the wife), Ellie (the daughter), and Gage (the son) Creed are moving to Ludlow, Maine, to get away from Louis’s past job and from the pain Raechel caused. At their new home, Ellie finds a mysterious graveyard in the woods they own called Pet Sematary. After they bury their cat in the graveyard, they bury their daughter, and they’ll have strong regrets for what comes next.
The inspiration for Pet Sematary was when Stephen King’s daughter’s cat got hit by a truck and had to face the task of burying his daughter’s cat. As Stephen King was crossing the road, he couldn’t help but think about how it would be if a human would get hit by a car.
All and all, Pet Sematary helps carry on Stephen King’s legacy with his dark and gory stories. This is all thanks to Stephen King’s original book which was written in 1983. The book has inspired many directors to create their adaptations of this popular book.
