Abby Lee Miller: losing it?
Bullying is an act of verbal or physical abuse not allowed on school grounds or in extracurricular activities, so why is it dancers from the long-running TV show Dance Moms are constantly being attacked by their coach Abbey Lee Miller?
Aired on Tuesday nights at nine, Dance Moms has been on for five seasons. The most recent episodes show the Abby Lee Dance Company and their move to the west coast. Miller moved her team there for a few weeks from Pittsburg to help them become stars as well as dancers, but is she really achieving that goal? Between screaming at the dancers to fix their routines and hollering at their mothers for speaking out, she barely has time to teach the girls their moves.
The latest episode, which premiered on March 3, 2015, consisted of Miller making a “hard” decision on who of the two older girls in her junior-elite company to make sit out. Now that they’re back in her home territory, Miller pounded on the pressure to win their first competition after a losing streak in L.A.
The real question here though is should Abby Lee Miller be allowed to instruct children aging from six to thirteen years old? Because of her bi-polar personality she frequently rants and raves and screams derogative names like “spoiled brat” at her students. Also, she constantly battles with the moms in front of the girls, then makes them leave when they show any emotion.
Miller has been hated for many things, but one of the longest-running hatred streaks goes for favoring one student—Miss Maddie Ziegler, who also dances in two famous music videos by the artist Sia. The other moms speak out against Miller, but back down when they realize they’re alone against the monster.
Lastly, the ALDC team is sinking because Miller simply won’t stay put. She constantly leaves rehearsal to do only she knows what, but rumors whisper of a new court case budding against her.
It’s amazing that she can get away with things like this on national television, but what’s scarier is that the moms keep allowing their children to come to class all for the assumption they’re going to be stars.
How long will Abby Lee Miller be able to keep it together? Watch Dance Moms on Lifetime to find out.
