The Despicable Me film series has become a successful animated franchise. It has been a worldwide success because of its hilarious characters and storyline. People love these movies because they are funny and engaging for audiences of all ages.
Despicable Me 1
A movie featuring a villain as the main character’s changing heart is an original and creative concept. The script is well-written and entertaining with some humorous quotes. Many characters, especially Gru and the three orphaned girls, are likable and add personality to the movie. They also enhance and strengthen its heartwarming, family-focused story. The minions are consistently funny throughout the scenes. Their relationship with Gru and his adopted daughters is heartwarming. One of the orphan girls, Agnes, is so adorable. The humor throughout the movie is both hilarious and creative. Vector, the villain, delivers many memorable lines that make him funny. The relationship between Gru and the orphan girls is one of the film’s cutest and most emotional elements.
Despicable Me 2
The story between Gru and Lucy in this movie is cute. It is fun to watch how their dynamic changes over time. At first, Gru doesn’t show much interest in Lucy, but as they team up and work together, their dynamic transforms. It’s a wonderful contrast of personalities. Gru is serious and bossy, while Lucy is lively and adventurous. Gru’s protective nature towards Margo is both amusing and heartwarming to watch. It shows how much he cares about the happiness of his daughters, like when he freezes the boy who broke her heart. This portrays him as a caring and deeply involved father, adding a lovely layer to his character. Agnes accepting Lucy as her new mother is a touching and heartwarming moment. I also like the villain in this movie. El Macho is just as hilarious, if not more hilarious, than Vector in the first movie.
Despicable Me 3
I loved how Gru and Lucy got fired from the AVL, and the minions wanted to bring Gru back to being evil. Then, when Gru refuses to listen to them, all but two minions leave him. He not only lost his job but also his entire army. Gru’s twin brother, Dru, added so much to the story. He also tried to convince Gru into being evil. The scene where Gru and Dru impersonate each other is so adorable, as they act out their missing childhood games with real-life sibling behaviors. I love Agnes’ unicorn obsession! This movie’s villain was especially interesting. Bratt was a lot funnier than Vector and El Macho combined! I loved how he used gum, tiny robots, a giant robot, and his ninja skills in an attempt to defeat Gru, just like in the show he played in when he was younger. I enjoyed watching the fight between Bratt and the twins. It was hilarious when the minions were sent to prison for trespassing, only to take it over and escape. They help Gru as much as they can by fighting with Bratt, and team up with Dru at the end since he wants to be a villain.
Despicable Me 4
This franchise keeps getting better and better, and the character development is awesome for all characters involved. I love that the kids noted Agnes was calling Lucy “mom.” It depicts a close bond between the girls and their adopted mother. The introduction of Gru Junior adds a new dynamic to the whole family. The jokes and punchlines are solid and can be easily understood. I feel like the writers did a great job with the minions and did them justice here. They’re so funny. You’re able to appreciate and gain a new respect for them instead of the minions just being annoying to viewers. It’s the most personal, serious, and grounded film in the series, except the original. This film is somewhat different from the first three movies, which might make it hit or miss with some, but I think it was successful because of this. The new side characters are likable. I particularly enjoyed the red-haired teen and her cat. At the end of the movie, I was thrilled to see Gru and Maxime Le Mal dancing in prison with all the villains from the other movies being there.
I think that the most recent movie is the best. I understand everyone is entitled to and has their own opinions, but this is my outlook on these movies.
