Fairs are places where many people have fun and throw away all their cares, but it can be expensive. The Danville-Pittsylvania County Fair is no exception. Hundreds of people from around the area come to join in the fun, try all the foods, and win prizes. The fair has a plethora of activities to do! This year, the fair is from Friday, September 13th until Saturday, September 21st.
Special Events
Every year, the fair announces different shows to watch each night. The first night, September 13th, is Figure 8 Racing. This is where car drivers race in an 8-shape in off-road, big-tire vehicles. September 14th is Demolition Derby Day, where cars bash each other until they are all destroyed and one victor stands. September 15th is Sunday Family Funday. They have a magic show and a trapeze troupe. Watching them swing from ropes is sure to amaze the crowd!
September 16th is School Night, where tickets are half-priced. From September 17th to September 19th, there are free monster truck shows and rides where everyone can enjoy a free bumpy ride around in the monster trucks. Lastly, Friday the 20th is the Demolition Derby again and Saturday the 21st is professional bull riding.
Rides and Food
Rides like the Zipper, Claw, Wheel of Fire, and other thrilling rides are available during these dates. The rides aren’t where the fun stops–there’s also the food. There are numerous types of foods like hot dogs, hamburgers, and pizza. Then, there are not-so-common foods like the Korean Corn Dog! The fair’s final exhibit is the animal barn. There are many animals to pet and hold. There are even pictures to be taken with a snake. All of the animals are cute.
