When strolling down the halls of THS, you may have heard a voice coming from the other side of the building. There is a good chance that it is the voice of senior Matthew Nosse. Many know Nosse for his seemingly out-of-pocket comments, his witty humor, or his playful demeanor.
Matt is a senior this year, and he is also the student representative for the school board. “I just wanted a new experience,” said Matt. So far, he likes that he has been able to interact with people from different schools. He also likes that he has been able to see the inner workings of the school board system. “I like the drive there because I just get to sit and listen to music and think,” said Nosse. He thinks it is a very unique experience and would recommend it to anyone.
Matt is also active in the theater department. “My favorite YouTuber also did theater, which made me want to do it,” said Nosse. He is referring to the YouTuber MatPat, known for making videos about the science behind video games. He likes being someone else. “It’s like dress up for grown-ups,” said Matt. He thinks it is fun to dress up and embrace the character he is playing. He has been in The Internet Is A Distraction, Oh Look a Kitten, and Alice and Wonderland.
Matt is unsure about what he wants to do after high school, but he is currently weighing his options. He wants to attend UVA, UVA-Wise, or DCC. He is “definitely” ready to graduate. “I am ready to get out of here,” added Nosse.
Mr. Bridgen is his favorite teacher. “He is just a cool dude,” said Matt. He thinks that Bridgen is a fun guy to be around. Plus, history is his favorite subject.
He also has interesting music tastes. He listens to different kinds of music. “I listen to girly-pop and rap the most because that is the best,” said Matt. He loves Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Chappel Roan, Lil Yachty, Laufey, Kendrick Lamar, old Kanye West, Dawes, Fleet Fox, and Metro Boomin’. His favorite is Laufey because she does smooth jazz and that is the type of music he likes. Sabrina Carpenter is his favorite artist of all time.
Matt is a very interesting character that many people around THS seem to know. Matt is, and will continue to be, a shining star over the Tunstall landscape.
