On Saturday, September 28, 2024, my family and some of my friends went up to Harrisonburg to watch James Madison University’s football game versus Ball State. That particular weekend was family weekend, so the stadium was very crowded. In fact, we couldn’t find a place to sit down until halftime. The game was very fun for JMU fans to watch because they beat Ball State 63-7.

In my opinion, the best part about the game was seeing all the unique traditions that JMU does. For instance, for every touchdown that JMU gets, purple and gold streamers are sent across the stadium by random fans. These streamers are distributed before the game. When they won the game, fireworks were shot off to celebrate the win.

It was fun to pick out a cute outfit for the game. My outfit for this particular game was a JMU shirt that I made, paired with a black skirt and my low-top Blazers. I wanted something comfy but stylish because I knew we would do a lot of walking. I also like seeing other people’s outfit options for the game because  it’s a different way that people can express themselves.

I loved seeing people fight to get on the jumbotron for their five seconds of fame. They were quite literally falling over each other to get in the camera shots. They also use the jumbotron to zoom in on the action which is convenient because I couldn’t always see the field over other people in the stands. If we’re being honest, I don’t always understand what is going on, so sometimes I have to ask my dad even if I can see the field, but it’s still nice to have a good view of the play.

Overall, if I had to rate this game, I would rate it a 10/10 because even though we weren’t able to find seating until later in the game, we ended up having a good view, and it was fun to spend time with friends and family. I would definitely recommend going to a JMU football game if you haven’t already.
