Spotify, a music streaming service that launched in 2008, is a common music app. It has a section where you can see the top artists of each year. Let’s look at the 2024 top artists on the Spotify app this year!

The Weeknd

The Weeknd is a Canadian artist and is known for his R&B and pop music. He is 34 years old and began his singing career in 2009 when he anonymously released music on YouTube.The Weeknd has 120,365,420 monthly listeners on Spotify and is the most streamed artist on the app. His song Blinding Lights is his most popular song on Spotify with around 4 billion streams and a million daily. Following closely is Starboy with around 3 billion streams and over a million daily. The Weeknd was the first artist to surpass 100 million monthly listeners in February of 2023. 

Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars is an American singer and songwriter and is best known for his pop, R&B, and funk music. Mars’s first hit song was Just the Way You Are, which he released in July 2010. As of October 2024, Mars has 110,089,142 monthly listeners on Spotify. His song When I Was Your Man is his most streamed on Spotify, with around 2 billion streams and over a million daily. Mars has been nominated for 31 Grammys and won 15 in all of his years of being famous. 

Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish is an American singer and is best known for her alt-pop music. Her most streamed song on Spotify is Lovely featuring Khalid with 3,017,500,007 monthly and over a million daily streams. Eilish first started to gain recognition after her song Ocean Eyes 2015, and in 2020 became the youngest person to ever win a Grammy for album of the year. She has 107,486,086 monthly listeners and is the 3rd most streamed artist on Spotify. 

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is an American singer and actress and is best known for her pop melodies and glam rock music. Gaga has 106,426,357 monthly listeners and is the 4th most streamed artist on the app. She first started performing as a teenager in school plays and open mics. Then in 2008, her career started to take off. She has won 13 Grammys since then. Gaga’s most streamed song on Spotify is Shallow with 2,566,420,007 streams and around a million daily. Closely following is Poker Face with over a billion daily streams. 

Coldplay

Coldplay is a British rock band including 5 members: Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, Will Champion, and Phil Harvey. The group met in college in 1998 and since then has come to win 7 Grammys. Their most streamed song is Something Just Like This with 2,819,118,053 monthly streams and over a million daily. Coldplay has 93,593,890 monthly listeners and is the 5th most streamed on Spotify.
