Tunstall held its annual homecoming football game on Friday, October 11th. They played against Basset and scored 0-42. Varsity football captain Kaden Brower predicted Tunstall would win by a single touchdown; however, after the game, he says he was just trying to be positive. Other players said that Tunstall could have done better if some of their players were not injured. Other players, like Kaden, also predicted good scores such as the following: 7-14, 14-24, and one player even saying 100-0. Many players also got injured during the game. Bryce Conner was one of them; he says he is surprised he doesn’t have a concussion. Daniel Flores was unable to play because of an injury to his collarbone, and even though Micah Rutherford sustained an injury, he continued to play to help his team.
Homecoming court this year consisted of freshmen Kara Eastwood, Mia Fowlkes, Isaac Van Allen, and A.J. Warren; Sophomores Kenley Barbour, Jaylin Hipkins, Caleb Collins, and Martin Pauley Jr.; Juniors Delaney West, Bella Williamson, Ian Yeatts, and Chase Beltram; Seniors Halle Cassada, Colby Eastwood, Destiny Flores, Parker Sinclair, Kaden Brower, Eli Famer, Nash Glasscock, and Dakotah Younger. They walked out on the field under the JROTC saber arch while interesting facts about them and their lives were read over the speakers. Kaden Brower was named Homecoming King, and Colby Eastwood was given the title of Homecoming Queen.
Students who attended the pep rally also say that it’s the best one Tunstall has had in years. Overall, while Tunstall may not have won their 2024 homecoming game, it was still a success.
