Halloween is just around the corner, and I’m sure everyone has been buying lots of candy! Whether they plan to hand it out to trick-or-treaters, or to save it for themselves, everyone enjoys some type of candy during this spooky season! However, everyone has a different taste when choosing which candy they want.

Candy corn is my number one. It was invented in Philadelphia, but a Cincinnati company made it famous many years ago. It has always been one of my favorite candies. Ever since I was little, I remember begging my parents to buy me big bags everytime we were in a store. To me, it tastes very sweet and good. On the other hand, some people think it feels waxy and tastes like plastic. There is even pumpkin-shaped candy corn, not just the typical triangular ones.

Another popular candy during the Halloween season is Reese’s peanut butter pumpkins. When I used to trick-or-treat, I remember always having a lot of these in my bag. They are pretty good, but most of the time, I give them to my mom when I get them. They are cute though and very festive as well.

Another popular candy found in the bags of trick-or-treaters is lollipops. There are many different kinds, like Blow Pops, Dum-Dums, Tiger Pops, or the Tootsie Pops. Most kids love any type of lollipop, so these are a big hit. My favorite one out of these is Tiger Pops. As a kid, the people at the gas station would hand these out to us, and I grew to love them. Even now, I try to find them in stores just to have them whenever I want.

Different types of chocolate are always very popular on Halloween. Most places hand out Snickers, 3 Musketeers, M&M’s, Milky Ways, Twix, Whoppers and Reese’s. Very rarely, I will find Butterfingers, even though they are really good. I like sweet stuff more than chocolate, but if I had to choose, I would choose the Milky Ways. They come in little squares or the big bars. Normally, people hand out the little squares, and I used to eat like five at once! All of my Milky Ways would be gone in three days. I also really love Whoppers. I used to run out of those fast as well because they are really sweet and tasty.

Many people might disagree with this, but Twizzlers and licorice are my least favorite. I always had so many of these in my bag when trick-or-treating, and I always gave them away to my siblings or parents immediately. I’m not really sure why: I just don’t really like the flavor or texture. I have seen many people hand them out, so I’m sure many other people have a different opinion than me and that’s okay. The main flavor is strawberry, but now they have started coming out with different flavors and even sour ones!
There are many candies handed out on Halloween. These are just a few. I love Halloween, and even though I don’t trick-or-treat anymore, I still eat lots of good candy!
