The Tunstall Trojans played and defeated the Mecklenburg Phoenixes in their Pink Out game on Thursday, September 17th. The Pink Out game is an annual game at Tunstall High School where we show our support for not only breast cancer patients but all cancer patients and survivors!
The JV team beat the Phoenixes in three sets. The Trojans won the first set 25-10. Kenley Barbour, Kinslee Cassell, and Sage Abercrombie had great kills in this set. Gianna Reamey also had assists in leading the Trojans to the win of the first set. The Trojans dropped the second set, losing 15-25. Our girls ended with a win in the last set, winning 15-10. Rylee Tune, Kennedy Younger, and Leah Blackwell had some crucial plays that won them the game.
After the JV game, the volleyball team recognized one local woman battling breast cancer to whom they donated the funds they raised. They also recognized anyone battling, or who has battled, any type of cancer with a standing ovation. DECA had a bake sale and many baked goods. There were also auctions of baskets filled with different items.
Our varsity team beat the Phoenixes in 3 sets. In the first set, the Trojans won 25-6. Colby Eastwood, Reagan Vickers, and Khamauri Mays had great kills in this set. Madison Austin also had some killer assists that led to the win of the first set. The second set was won 23-25. Carleigh Strader and Delaney West had excellent serves and kills, followed by Adrey Stevens with some crucial digs for the Trojans. They ended the last set with a win of 21-25. Avery Tucker, Colby Eastwood, and Khamauri Mays had some impressive plays that ended the game.
The Lady Trojans had a great night with a successful pink-out night. We are all excited to see what our girls will do with their last games!
