Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, and I’m sure many people can’t wait. We get extra time out of school and extra food! Some people love the holiday because they get to eat all the food they want, while others enjoy spending that time with family more than it just being all about food. I am a very basic and picky person, so my favorite Thanksgiving foods are probably different from others.
Main Courses
#1
My top one food to enjoy on Thanksgiving is mac-n-cheese. My mom always makes it homemade every year, using a different recipe each time. She makes it completely from scratch, and I always look forward to it every year. It’s always so cheesy and made to perfection.
#2
Chicken casserole is another one of my top choices. I didn’t used to like it, but one day, a few years ago, I tried my grandma’s, and it was really good. My family doesn’t make this every year, so when they do, we really enjoy it. Most chicken casserole recipes include shredded chicken pieces and a variety of warm vegetables. Some people put certain types of sauce in them as well.
#3 and 4
As I said, I am very basic. My last two favorites are green beans and mashed potatoes. My family also makes these homemade, and they are so good. The green beans are very salty and so are the mashed potatoes that my grandma makes.
What I don’t like
Unpopular opinion, but I don’t like ham or turkey. I like it on sandwiches but not the kind that my family gets for the holidays. They always get it smoked and gourmet. I also don’t like cranberry sauce. They have it every year and I don’t know why.
Desserts
Pumpkin pie is a very popular and traditional dessert on Thanksgiving. My mom makes two of them every year. I don’t like pumpkin pie, but my family always compliments it and looks forward to it every year. She also makes a pecan pie, and my family really likes that as well. I don’t eat dessert on Thanksgiving because I am always way too full.
Thanksgiving is a holiday that kind of gets overlooked now, but I think it is a good holiday and I always look forward to it!
