With the holiday season coming up, many people are getting into the Christmas spirit by listening to Christmas music. While there is a wide variety of songs, which one is the best?
“Where Are You Christmas?” (Ella)
The song “Where Are You Christmas?” is one of my absolute favorite Christmas songs. It shows the emotions so many people get when the holidays come around because it does not feel how it did when they were a kids. It tells the feeling of people knowing it is Christmas time; however, it doesn’t feel like it. Personally, my favorite version of this song is the version in the movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas, sung by Taylor Momsen who played Cindy Lou Who.
“Last Christmas” (Ella)
“Last Christmas” is another one of my favorite Christmas songs. Every time I hear this song, it gets me in the Christmas spirit. My favorite version of this song is the original artist, Wham! They released this song on December 3, 1984. Although their version is my favorite, I also love many other versions sung by various artists.
“Hallelujah” (Carey)
“Hallelujah” is such a classic Christmas song in my books. The acapella group Pentatonix performs one of the best versions of this song I have ever heard. Personally, Christmas is about being with family and celebrating the Lord, so this song holds a special place in my heart. “Hallelujah,” while covered by many talented artists, was originally written by Leonard Cohen and was released on his album Various Positions in 1984.
“When Christmas Comes to Town” (Carey)
“When Christmas Comes to Town” is a song from The Polar Express soundtrack. In this song, the children are singing together about the epitome of Christmas, and it is just so heartwarming. “Presents for the children, wrapped in red and green…,” the girl sings. I have always felt that this song brings me back to my childhood when Christmas meant Santa Claus and presents, so it is truly nostalgic. Performing this song are two children, voiced by Meagan Moore and Mathew Hall. Along with The Polar Express, this song was first released in November of 2004.
While there are many other amazing Christmas songs, these rank at the top of our lists. These songs truly bring joy to our hearts! Although these may be some of our favorites, there are so many other songs to put you in the Christmas spirit!
