On Friday, December 6, 2024, the Tunstall Trojans basketball team defeated the Dan River Wildcats basketball team. The game was very close, ending with a score of 61-57.
Ethan Howell had the most points with seventeen, followed by Corey Zelenski with sixteen points. The two players are considered the dynamic duo on this year’s team. By the way they communicate, it is easy to tell that they have a strong bond with one another.
The team started off strong in the first quarter with a score of 12-5. The starting five were Ethan Howell (Senior), Corey Zelenski (Senior), Ian Yeatts (Junior), Tyler Martin (sophomore), and Graham Haskins (Junior). Dan River did a good job of keeping the Trojans on their toes by not letting themselves get in a deficit of more than 10 points. Going into half-time, Dan River was winning 23-22. They continued this trend into the third quarter with the score being 45-40.
In the last few seconds, the boys made a layup to secure the win. Teamwork and communication are what ultimately led the team to their success. There are high hopes that this will kickstart a winning streak for the Varsity Trojans team.
