As college acceptance letters come in, many of the seniors here at Tunstall High School are getting into their dream schools. Let’s hear what they have to say about how they are feeling after getting that acceptance letter!
Halle Cassada is one of the many seniors who got accepted into her first choice. Cassada got accepted into Coastal Carolina and wants to major in exercise science and minor in sports communications. When asked what swayed her into being her first choice, Cassada said, “Going to Myrtle Beach on vacation and I always saw it; I guess that just put it on my radar.” Cassada got a presidential scholarship and got into Coastal Carolina’s honors college, which gives an extra 1,000 dollars a year. Cassada’s main reason for going to college is to become a physical therapist for an NFL or professional sports team. She is nervous about moving away from home but is super excited to have this opportunity!
Khamauri Mays is another senior who got accepted into her first choice. Mays got into Virginia State and is going on a full ride to play for their softball team. She is planning on majoring in biology and eventually would like to become a physician’s assistant. Mays also got into Virginia State’s honor college. When asked what kind of emotions she is feeling about moving away from home, she said, “Bittersweet. I’m very excited to be in a new environment, but I know I’m going to miss the people I grew up with.” Mays is ready and excited to explore this new opportunity she was given!
Jaden Taylor is a senior who recently got accepted into Coastal Carolina. Taylor is planning on majoring in criminal justice and minoring in pre-law. She was offered a presidential scholarship. Taylor stated that Coastal Carolina was her first choice because of the atmosphere: “I’ve just always been drawn to that, and then actually touring there, I could just see myself going there.” Taylor is nervous but ready to meet new people and step out of her comfort zone. Taylor’s main goal is to become a criminal attorney and eventually have her practice.
Reagan Vickers is another senior excited about getting accepted into their first choice. Vickers is going to the University of Alabama and wants to major in biology. She said that the tour that she went on over spring break encouraged her to want to go there because it felt like home to her. She said she had also watched many TikToks about Alabama that swayed her to want to go there. “It’s approaching really fast, but I think it will be a new step for me, and I’m excited to get out.” Vickers’s main goal after college is to get into medical school to become an OBGYN.
I know all of us are so proud and happy to hear and see that these amazing seniors are going out and accomplishing their goals. Help in wishing all of them the best of luck in their last couple of months of senior year and their future college lives!
