Rowland places first in State Leadership Conference
After competing in the SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference, senior Brittany Rowland placed first in First Aid/CPR.
Rowland was one of the seven contenders who competed in the conference at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, Virginia, on April 17-19.
“I volunteered to compete to experience something new in my life. I wanted to put my CPR skills to the test,” said Rowland.
During the conference, Rowland was expected to take a written test, participate in an interview and show her skills regarding the following scenarios: infant CPR, adult CPR, and shock/bleeding control.
After her hard work and motivation from her EMT Instructor, Mr. Jeffrey Reynolds, and classmates, Rowland left Roanoke a first place prize winner.
“I’m used to competing with a team. I’m glad I gave it my all and came out on top. I thank God for being with me through this huge accomplishment in my life.”
Rowland will be attending the SkillsUSA National Leadership Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, on June 22-27 this summer. The last day of the competition will also double as an 18th birthday present for Rowland.
