Trojans battle the Cavaliers
The Trojans faced off against the Chatham Cavaliers Monday night at home. The girls came away with a 5-1 win and the boys were defeated 4-1.
The ladies were down 1-0 in the first half and brought the score up to 5-1 in the second half with almost back to back goals.
Anna Wright tied up the score in beginning of the second half and Alissa Hill scored her first career goal and the goal that put the Trojans ahead. Bre Carter also scored three goals which put the Trojans in a secure lead. Liz Pineda and Madison McKenna each had two assists.
“It was amazing. We played down in the first half, but then we played much better defensively and offensively in the second half,” said senior Anna Wright.
The lady Trojans have previously done well against Chatham and have only lost to them once.
“This is our first big multi-goal game,” said Coach Marc Parrish. According to Parrish the team is working well together this season.
“As individuals we’ve grown together. We have great chemistry,” said freshman Alissa Hill.
The boys, however, were down 4-0 until halfway through the second half when Jake Searcy scored the only goal of the night. The defensive leaders were Bryson Fields with 11 defensive stops, Berkley Toufas with 7, and Kyle Davis with 6.
In previous seasons the Trojans have never lost to Chatham, but in this season they have lost twice.
“Some players did really well and gave it their all and others didn’t,” said Coach John Robinson. Although they lost, the players have improved since the first game of the season.
“We’ve been improving little by little,” said junior Bryson Fields.
The team usually works well together and the players thought they could’ve done better.
“Sometimes we play well together and sometimes we don’t,” said senior Jake Searcy.
