Tunstall takes on livestock
Friday, April 24th the 67th annual livestock show and sell was held. Students, ages six to eighteen, fit and showed livestock they have raised for the past three to eighteen months. Livestock include lambs, goats, hogs and cattle. Exhibitors are judged on how they handle their animal in the ring, the professional appearence of the student, the presentation of the animal, how well they groom their animal, and how they interact with the judge.
Market and production classes show and auction off their livestock. Two hogs, five steers, fourteen goats, and forty lambs were sent to the market in Virginia.
Tunstall FFA bought a 359 pound hog from Chatham FFA for the FFA banquet at the end of the year and to support another FFA chapter. “It was the biggest in the show,” said Mr. Gregory.
“Extra students we took did a great job as well,” said Gregory.
Senior Morgan Crews helped with handing out ribbions. “I’d say it went well, we took home an animal,” said Crews.
“It’s famous for running really late but this year went along perfect, the flow was excellent,” said Gregory.
