Football makes plans to rebuild

“Tough, hardworking, and a brotherhood” is how head coach David Potts described his 2015 football team. The Trojans varsity football team finished the season with a 2-8 record, both wins coming on the road against Martinsville and Patrick County.
One of the most memorable highlights of the year came when sophomore Reagan Dillon and senior Bryson Mitchell both kicked game winning field goals over Martinsville as time expired in each game to give JV and Varsity wins on back-to-back nights.
Potts said that this season was a learning experience.
“This year was a bumpy road. We played with adversity and there was lack of playing experience,” Potts said
During the season, Tunstall struggled with injuries, including two big losses on both sides of the line.
“Our two big losses were seniors Demarcus Wimbush and TeAun Carter who both suffered stress fractures. Demarcus missed eight games in total and TeAun missed five.”
With some players pulling double duty, playing JV and varsity, Potts is optimistic about next season.
“I think next year we are going to see a youth movement on the team. I think that we are going to have a better team with some of the players moving up.”
