Five Nights at Freddy’s is a game where the player is a security guard and has to watch the animatronics for five nights and takes place in a pizza restaurant called Freddy Fazebear’s Pizzeria were the main animatronics Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy roam around at night trying to get into the security guard’s office and stuff him into an animatronic suit.

The restaurant is haunted by the souls of five dead children that were killed by one of the main antagonists The Purple Guy. The game got its popularity when a YouTuber by the name of Markiplier posted a video on YouTube and titled it “WARNING: Scariest Game in Years.” After beating the five nights and the two bonus nights Markiplier got named by his fans the King of Five Nights at Freddy’s after completing the hardest difficulty in the game 20/20/20/20 mode. FNAF was made as a sequel to the prequel FNAF 2 which was released three months after FNAF 1.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 gets even more complicated than the previous game where the security guard has to watch ten animatronics four being the original and six being new animatronics and the security guard also has to wind a music box so the Marionette won’t come and get him.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 which was updated March 2, 2015, with only one main animatronic/antagonist named Springtrap which is The Purple Guy. FNAF 3 gets a little more difficult where the player has to check for ventilation and other errors that will cause the player to hallucinate and see the ghost of past animatronics. FNAF 3 starts putting the theories and stories made by fans together in minigames that the player can play after every night. The last minigames shows the souls of the children that died going after The Purple Guy and they scare him into the Springtrap suit and the spring lock mechanism triggered and permanently trapped The Purple Guy in Springtrap.

The final game, Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, ties all the stories and theories together. The player is no longer a security guard, but rather a kid that is in the hospital having an endless nightmare. The kid that the player plays as is the victim of the most common theory the bite of ’87 where a kid had his/her fontal lobe bit off.

At the end of the game the player see the kid crying and all the stuffed animals of the animatronics are disappearing and at the end of it all there’s a flat line indicating that the child has passed. Once FNAF 4 has been beaten the player see’s a chest that can’t be opened.

Scott Cawthon the creator of FNAF said, “The chest will never be opened.” He said that because the FNAF community has basically already figured out everything and won’t be ready to see what in the chest.

There is also a novel called Five Nights at Freddy’s The Untold Story that’s coming out soon. A FNAF movie is also in the works by Warner Bros that does not have a release date.
