Tunstall Trojans kick off the soccer season with wins

On Tuesday night, March 15, 2016, the Tunstall Trojans and the Lady Trojans took on the Dan River Wildcats at home in soccer. Tunstall took home the win for  both of these matches, and begin this season 1-0.

In the boys game, Tunstall played a close match with the Wildcats which ended 4-2 . Senior Oscar Lara scored two goals and was followed by sophomores Gage McKenna and Patrick MacLeish who each scored a goal of their own. The goals were assisted by senior Berkley Toufas, sophomore McKenna, and senior Greyson Cooke who assisted two of the four.

On the defensive end, Toufas had 16 tackles and clears, senior Kyle Davis had 15, senior Bryson Fields had 14, and junior Chase Hawkins had 13. Hunter Sollenberger, playing midfield, got 9 tackles in while winning 5 fifty-fifty balls.

The Lady Trojans won their match 7-0, shutting out the Wildcats thanks to the goal keeper Anna Flinchum.  Sophomore Ali Hill got a hat trick, scoring three goals in one match. Freshman Jessica Durand scored 2, while sophomore Leah Dowdy and senior Liz Pineda each scored 1.

The Tunstall Trojans face off with the Chatham Cavaliers tonight at home.
