Drumming up positivity with Zach
Zachary Ours-Johnson brings many smiles to students and faculty when he walks down the hall. Coming from breakfast, sweeping the halls, and singing while he does it. Zach’s attitude can be contagious.
Playing the drums, singing, and sweeping are Zachary’s favorite things to do. He started playing drums at Christ Temple Holiness Church, the church that he regularly attends, one day a few years ago. Zach said, “Sometimes I just like to be loud and make noise.”
Along with playing the drums every Sunday at church, Zach loves to sing gospel songs. Early most school days you can hear Zach belting out his praises to God, while also helping the janitorial staff by sweeping the halls. Most students wouldn’t volunteer to sweep, but Zachary says, “I just like sweeping.”
Mr. Ricky White said, “Zach is a really sweet guy and tries to help out whenever he can.”
Mr. Mark Austin noted that “Zach’s go-getter attitude when he approaches tasks is very encouraging.”
Although Zach loves all these things there is one thing that he enjoys every day above all: breakfast! Every day Zach gets a Pop-Tart and graham crackers. His favorite Pop-Tarts are frosted strawberry. “I love Poptarts but sometimes the crumbs get real messy,” Zach stated.
Zachary also revealed that his hidden talent is tic-tac-toe. On the subject of losing Zach said, “I don’t care if you beat me ’cause I’ll win the next round.”
