Seniors sign intent to play collegiate sports
On April 13th, four Tunstall senior athletes signed their intent to play sports at the collegante level. Katie Pritchett, Chandler Wilkins, DaMarcus Wimbush, and Josh Wilson are all the athletes that signed Wednesday.
Chandler and Katie both signed for golf. Chandler Wilkins has decided to go to Old Dominion for business. “They have the best golf program, in my opinion, and many great educational opportunities for me,” Chandler adds.
Although Katie Pritchett also signed for golf, she has an aspiration of becoming a nurse at the University of Virginia at Wise. “I had a few other options such as UNC and Averett, but I just thought UVA-Wise was the school for me,” Katie said.
Mr. David Myers was coach for both Chandler and Katie. He is very proud of the both of them. He feels that they have been thoroughly prepared to sign. “They were the first one’s to go to Division I (Chandler), and Division II-III (Katie),” Mr. Myers stated.
Josh Wilson signed for football while DaMarcus Wimbush signed for football, wrestling, and track. Josh Wilson will attend Blue Field College to play football and get a good education. DaMarcus Wimbush will attend Blue Field College as well. “The atmosphere at Blue Field is great and I knew the moment I went up there, I knew that this was the college I wanted to graduate from,” DaMarcus said.
Caleb Thompson is also a senior who signed later this year. He signed on November 12th for pitching. Caleb wants to go to JMU, which was his first choice and the only school he applied to. “It was definitely a relief that I didn’t have to apply to a lot of college’s for health administration,” Caleb adds.
