Showing off seniors decisions
On April 26, 2016, Trojan seniors met in the cafeteria at the end of the day to celebrate their college choices for Decision Day. With twelve years of late night studying and last minute projects all culminating into one memorable acceptance letter, seniors used this time to sit back, relax, and make shirts to represent their choice.
Decision Day was open to any twelfth grader entering into a four year or two year college or a trade school. Students must have turned in all acceptance letters, financial aid papers, scholarship awards, and Ms. Hardy’s final plans survey.
Students filed into the cafeteria and used an array of glitter glue and markers to make “I’m going to” shirts, showing off their new homes and connecting with fellow students going to the same schools. Pizza and drinks were provided by Ms. Hardy and Mr. Motely and served by fellow students.
“My favorite part was hunting down the paint for the tee shirts. It’s like an odd version of an Easter egg hunt. When you final find the right color, it’s almost out… it’s a disaster. No, but in reality, I really liked the pizza,” said senior Cassady Davis, who’s attending Virginia Commonwealth University.
After entering participants names into a bag, Mr. Motely, Ms. Hardy, and senior Trevor Mensavage raffled off dorm room equipment and school supplies such as comforters, binders and notebooks, fifteen dollar Walmart gift cards, and even a laptop for a senior in need.
Decision Day ended a busy school day for the up-coming graduates, one that began with a senior class meeting to discuss graduation procedure and rules, and also provided the Trojan’s 2016 yearbook, The Iliad.
