Golf begins new season
The THS golf team has welcomed five new players, as well as three returning players for this season. Three players graduated last year including Grant Cassada, Katie Pritchett, and Chandler Wilkins.
There is also a new head coach: Mr. Michael McGregor.
The first match was in Forest, VA at London Downs Golf Club, where 25 different teams competed.
“A steady rain started as the tournament began and continued throughout the entire match,” said coach McGregor. “The conditions were terrible and it seemed like no one played well, with the exception of Radford High School.”
They also played at Forest Park and Green’s Folly. Yesterday, on September 1, their 4th match was held at Chatmoss Country Club. Lane Pritchett placed 3rd individually, Will Davis shot a 42, and Justin Fuller had a score of 44.
Other team members include Garrett Van Allen, Sean Gunter, Noah White, Dylan Martin, and Owen Felts.
Looking ahead, Mr. McGregor’s expectations for the 2016 season are to shoot low rounds, win many matches, and go to states.
The next match will be on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Ringgold Golf Course.
